Rescue efforts are underway to treat a 19-year-old man who apparently fell off of the Thacher State Park overlook this morning at approximately 6:30 am. While the man is conscious, his condition is labeled 'critical'.  Here's the latest information.


According to News Channel 13, The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. and police are urging those to use caution in the area of John Boyd Thacher Park.

According Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple two men were drinking around 6:30 a.m. when one slipped off. The young man who fell was rescued, but is said to be in critical condition while paramedics are 'working to bring him up'.

Apple says the other person was arrested for trespassing and serving alcohol to a minor.

The overlook, as well as surrounding area, is a popular for photo ops, views, gatherings and hikes.

Thacher Park is located in the Helderbergs, an east-west mountain range between the Adirondacks and the Catskills.
