Local Restaurant Open in Honor of Loss of Chef’s Wife to Cancer
After his wife passed, Chef Kevin Myers knew he wanted to do something to honor her and that's where the idea for this restaurant began.
Ribbon Cafe in Ballston Spa has been open since 2018, you may have eaten a meal there, but did you know where the idea came from. In 2017, the chef/owner's wife Jennifer Myers lost her battle with breast cancer. From that loss came this beautiful restaurant where they say on their website "Today is a gift that we will embrace and honor her memory in creating one meal at a time to satisfy your hunger!"
It does help that Chef Myers had a culinary background and is not only an is an award-winning chef, but a winner of various local Chowderfest titles. One of which was his wife's favorite - Southwest Shrimp Corn Chowder.
Chef Myers doesn't just own the restaurant, he takes to heart helping those who are fighting the awful disease that is cancer. According to News10, Chef Myers "prepares meals for homebound cancer patients, and monthly proceeds from the restaurant go to support the Mollie Wilmot Radiation Oncology Center where his wife was treated."
From the name, the pink ribbon logo, and what he does to help the community, Chef Myers is doing a great job keeping his wife's memory alive and this is a beautiful way to do it.
