Local Hotel Makes ‘Top 10 Most Haunted’ List
Whether you love it or hate it, this is the time of year for the spooky and scary. Little did you know, one of the most haunted places in the country, we have right here in our backyard.
USA Today released a list of the 10 "Best Haunted Hotels" throughout the country. The number one hotel on the list (in case you're looking to book a spooky getaway) is The Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah, Nevada. According to the list, the Mizpah Hotel "has many spirits supposedly roaming its halls, including Rose, a prostitute murdered by a jealous gambler. Guests report items that mysteriously move and an old elevator whose doors randomly open and close."
The second on the list is only about 2.5 hours from here in Nichols, New York. It's called the Fainting Goat Island Inn where guests have heard people walking around, seeing women in the tea room, hearing footsteps on a staircase that doesn't exist, and a moving chair!
Skipping to the ninth on the list, this is the one you're most familiar with, The Sagamore is Bolton Landing. If you've been to The Sagamore than you know how beautiful it is during the day, but did you have any guess that at night it would be haunted? People have reported a spirit couple eating in one of the restaurants, a woman in a white dress walking through the halls, a young boy on the golf course, and another in the elevator. Apparently, The Sagamore tries to hide those ghostly rumors but the spirits won't let you forget them!
