Local Extras Need For HBO Show Filming In Troy
Ready to put your acting chops to the test? You could be an extra in HBO's new show "Gilded Age."
As we reported back in February, HBO's new period show "Gilded Age" is filming in Troy this spring. Most productions tend to tap into the local scene for extras and that s exactly what is happening here. According to a Times Union story, the show is currently "looking for women with long hair and men with facial hair" as well as children to be extras while the show films for 4 weeks in May and June. Grant Wilfrey Casting is calling the spots"1880's roles " for the period piece.
If you would like to work as an extra and are wondering what the show is about, HBO says it is based on late 1800's New York City during a "...period of immense economic change, of huge fortunes made and lost, and the rise of disparity between old money and new" and will have some pretty big names playing roles including Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski.
Knowing how Troy has an 'Old New York City" vibe to it, it all makes sense why the Gilded Age chose the Collar City as a filming location. You get all the charm and nostalgia of those great old buildings, without the craziness of actually filming in New York City!
The Times Union says "Gilded Age" will be filming in Troy May 2nd to June 18th and More info on becoming an extra for the Gilded Age can be found here.
