A scratch-off from the New York Lottery sold at a local Cumberland Farms paid off for one area resident in a big way to start the new year.  The scratch-off ticket called "Make My Year" hit for 2.5 large - that 2.5 million dollars -  and while the resident has yet to step forward, things are about to change for one lucky Capital Region native.

According to the Times Union, the winning scratch-off ticket was sold at the Cumberland Farms on Bay St. in Glens Falls on January 2nd.  The winner of the multi-million dollar ticket sold over three weeks ago, has yet to come forward but it is believed that he or she will be announced within the next day or so.

According to the Times Union, the "Make My Year" instant scratch-off ticket sells for $10 and the odds of hitting the 2.5 million dollar grand prize is approximately 1/3.6 million.  The lucky winner will be paid out in ten $250,000 installments.
