Three major cities in New York State rank among the worst places for bed bugs in the United States. When it comes to bragging rights you want to tell friends you have the best school system, great restaurants and entertainment. You don't want to say 'we have more bed bugs that you'!
Orkin, the global pest control company, recently published it's rankings for the worst cities in America for bed bugs. The good news is not 1 New York city made the top 10. The bad news is 3 New York cities made the top 50.

According to the New York State Department of Health, bed bugs feed on blood, and can be found anywhere. You are most likely to find them in densely populated areas and places with high turnover, such as hotels.
Bed bugs find their way from place to place on used furniture, in luggage, purses, backpacks, or other items placed on soft or upholstered surfaces. In a hotel or apartment complex bed bugs can travel between rooms. So, which New York cities have they traveled to the most?

#44 - SYRACUSE - Things have not gotten better in a year. Syracuse, New York was ranked #50 in 2025 and now up 6 spots to #44.

#32 - BUFFALO - Things have not gotten better in Buffalo either. Up 2 spots from #34 to #32.
#12 New York City - Bed bugs have taken a bit out of the Big Apple moving the city up from #15 to #12. Bed bugs have been known to bite you while you sleep, so do your best to check before you snooze.
