Explore the ruins of a once grand mansion, now engulfed by the woods of New York. Only the skeleton of this impressive building still stands but standing within its walls you can't help picturing the lavish parties, and countless guests that visited the Cornish Estate.

Take a look at the pictures and video below of what you will see once you make the 2 mile walk into these woods of the Hudson Valley town of Cold Spring. The remnants of several fireplaces, massive windows, and chimney stacks are just the beginning of the heartbreaking story of New York City businessman Edward Cornish and his wife.

Legend has it that Edward Cornish was the president of the National Lead Company in Manhattan. Edward and his wife Selina moved into the mansion around 1917. Sadly, in 1938, Edward and Selina died within two weeks of each other. Some say the mansion died along with the pair.

All Trails reports that you can access the trail to the Cornish Estate in the Hudson Highlands State Park. Much of the concrete driveway of the old estate leads the way of an easy walk to the ruins.

Start at the parking lot at Little Stony Point, take the blue trail. Once you reach the concrete driveway, continue uphill until you reach the estate ruins. You should be able to explore a swimming pool, greenhouse, pump house, and more.
