Patrick Kane is Moving to Detroit
Patrick Kane is moving to Detroit.
The rumor mill had been swirling for quite some time on where would be the new home for Patrick Kane, the former Blackhawks superstar. If the goal of Kane is to win another cup, the Red Wings are currently in 3rd place in the Atlantic division with 25 points.
The Buffalo native is 35 years old and was selected 1st in the 2007 NHL draft. Kane has won 3 Stanley Cups in his career.
At 35 years old, Patrick Kane is obviously toward the end of his career and it would have been really cool if he became a Buffalo Sabres, his hometown team, to end his time. Of course, the fans would have loved it, but that is not what he ultimately decided. In fact, the Sabres were only rumored to have a little interest, but were out of the conversation fairly early.
EXTRA: Did you know that the Buffalo Sabres are one of the only American-based teams in the National Hockey League that sing both the United States and Canadian National Anthems before games? If you are wondering why, it's because the Sabres have always done it for the fans that were so loyal from Canada. The Knox family, who were the first owners of the Sabres decided to keep both anthems going. Of course, Buffalo is only a 20 minute drive to Canada. The team was established in 1970 by the Knox family in the NHL expansion.
In addition, the Buffalo Sabres spell the word 'SABER' the Canadian way, 'Sabre'.
