Is A ‘Cold & Snowy” New York Winter On the Way? Almanac Says So
It is only August in Upstate New York, which means it's already time to start dreading the winter weather that lurks ahead.
I can hear your inner dialogue cursing me out as you read this. Heck, I am cursing myself out! But there is something about the words 'Upstate NY Winter Forecast' that you cannot resist. That's why I am writing this, that's why you are reading.
We know winters here can be brutal in Upstate New York, and maybe the sooner we prepare for that scenario the better equipped we are to deal with it. Or when we have a mild winter like last year, we get to experience that huge sigh of relief.
Farmers' Almanac Predicts 'Traditional' Upstate NY Winter
So here we are in mid-August, getting the 2023-24 winter weather outlook from the weather forecasters at the Farmers' Almanac. And after last year's relatively easy winter, what are we looking at for the winter ahead?
Cold and Snowy, according to the Almanac's prediction for the Northeastern United States. Almanac forecasters say it will be a 'traditional' winter for New York adding also says "For those of you living along the I-95 corridor from Washington to Boston, who saw a lack of wintry precipitation last winter, you should experience quite the opposite, with lots of rain/sleet and snowstorms to contend with."
Now, take this all with a grain of salt as this is a way early forecast. And just how accurate will this forecast be? Last winter the Almanac predicted "significant shivers" and "slushy, icy, snowy" conditions." And it turned out to not be so bad. How will this forecast pan out? Only time will tell!
