A historic church in Albany's Ten Broeck district has been closed since 1994, but it still remains a very important piece of the city's skyline. At 235-feet-high, even if you've never seen it up close, you can't miss it from a distance - but upon taking a closer look, you can see how this once immaculate construction is just a hollowed-out shell of its former self- abandoned, parts destroyed, and taken over by squatters.

Recently, a YouTuber named BergeX went inside the abandoned 160-year-old church, a risky proposition considering its condition.

There are massive holes in the floor, broken stained glass windows, decrepit stairs, as well as whatever trash and ragged clothes were left behind by squatters.

Before St. Joseph's Church was shut down nearly 30 years ago, this was one of Albany's earliest Roman Catholic churches and was viewed as one of the more beautiful structures in our city.

Back in 1987, the church was featured in scenes filmed for the movie Ironweed starring Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep.  Let's go inside now and take a look at what kind of condition it's in now.
