Hero Medic Dies Suddenly During Mid-Flight Mission to Albany Med

The Capital Region lost a true hero on Wednesday night when, during a mid-flight rescue mission bound for Albany Medical Center, Flight Paramedic Kevin Robert suffered a medical emergency of his own.

Sadly, he lost his life trying to save someone else's.

LifeNet of New York, where Robert was employed, wrote about the tragic incident on their Facebook page.

"We are heartbroken to share the passing of Flight Paramedic Kevin Robert, who died suddenly on the evening of August 27th following a medical emergency while serving aboard LifeNet 7-13, based in Ticonderoga, NY," they stated.

Was Mid-Mission When He Fell Ill

According to the post, Robert was on a mission with his fellow crew, "a flight nurse and pilot providing life-saving care to a patient when he became critically ill."

NewsChannel 13 reported that Robert was on board a LifeNet flight with a patient, bound for Albany Medical Center, when the incident occurred.

The helicopter diverted to Saratoga Hospital, but, sadly,  they couldn’t save Robert’s life.

LifeNet 7-13, founded in 2016 and relocated to Ticonderoga in 2017, provides emergency air medical transport across the Southeastern Adirondacks, Lake George, and western Vermont.

Its service area spans Plattsburgh to South Glens Falls and Indian Lake to I-91 on the VT/NH border.

On Facebook, someone close to him wrote:
This is hard to swallow. Kevin was a great medic and a darn good flight member. Condolences to the whole entire family, the crew, the communication specialist and everyone involved. May he RIP, fair winds my friend.  Bo Wilson

"Kevin’s legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the patients he cared for, and the dedication he showed every day to serving the Adirondack, Lake George, and western Vermont communities. His memory will take flight with us on every mission," his heartbroken colleagues added.
