The Center For Disability Services is an incredible place. Their tag line is “where people get better at life” and we want to help them get better at that with our radiothon, today on WGNA, and the telethon on Sunday on WXXA, Fox 23.

A few years ago I had the pleasure of touring the main facility at 314 South Manning Boulevard in Albany.

Besides the people that may have been born with a disability, we were also informed that some people were healthy and active, and then in one second their lives were changed. They are called consumers.

We saw some people that had that happen to. They had been involved in an accident. Some were car accidents, some were riding a bike, on skateboard or just doing some every day activity and fell. They may have misjudged something, fell and suffered that life changing injury, which may have caused them to not be able to get around or do every day things that most of us take for granted. Something like this could happen to anyone, young or old. Imagine not being able to feed yourself, or go to the bathroom on your own? Not being able to speak or just get up and go for a walk. Listen to WGNA and you will hear some of these stories.

Some of the equipment they use is very expensive. Plus there are every day expenses that you and I may have trouble trying to keep up with. Imagine doing that on a large scale, at a place that does so much good in helping. They can’t do it without our help. So please call and make a donation – Call 518-381-4720. We only have until 7:00 p.m. tonight.

If you can’t help today, then join us on Sunday from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. for the telethon and help out then. By the way, the Center For Disability Services is right here in the Albany area, and that’s where the consumers are from. They may be helping your neighbor.
