The Section 2 girls basketball champions have been crowned. Up next will be completing the dream of winning a state championship. Let's start off with the Class AA regional for Section 2 champion Albany High School. The Falcons will have the task of taking on Section 3 winner Cicero-North Syracuse. That game will be 6pm on Saturday at HVCC.

In girls basketball Class A action, Section 2 powerhouse Averill Park will travel to face Section 3 winner Bishop Ludden on Saturday at 1pm. That game will be in Syracuse at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

In Class B, Section 2 champion Schalmont certainly has their eyes on a state title. They will have to travel to Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh on Saturday to take on Section 7 winner Saranac as their first task. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 5pm.

The Class C regional should be a good one, featuring Section 2 steamroller Duanesburg, who definitely has eyes on a state title. Duanesburg will face the winner of Wednesday's match-up between Section 7 champ Northern Adirondack against Section 10 winner Madrid-Waddington. Duanesburg will play on Saturday. That game is schedule for a 4:15pm tip.

Finally in Class D in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association girls basketball championships, Section 2 champion, Hartford Central will take on Section 7 winner Boquet Valley. That game will be Saturday at Clinton Community College. Tip off is scheduled for noon. Good luck to all of the Section 2 champions, as well as all participating student-athletes and coaches.

Great Time For A Late Winter On The Albany Rail Trail

According to the Albany County website, the Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail stretches nine miles along the old Delaware & Hudson (D&H) Railroad between the Port of Albany and Voorheesville.
