Want to try out the fishing hole you heard of without a license? This is the weekend to do it!

This Saturday and Sunday June 29th and 30th it is another free fishing weekend in the state of New York, according to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation website. This means all day Saturday and all day Sunday you can fish without a license. All other DEC fishing regulations will still be in effect.

The beautiful thing about this weekend is you can give fishing a go without the commitment of a license. The DEC also suggests if you are already an avid angler, this is a great opportunity to bring a friend of family member fishing to get them into the sport.

Any excuse to get outside is a good one in Upstate New York, especially this time of year. But the peace and quiet of a secluded fishing spot, and some time well spent with family or friends - I can't think of a better reason to head out, and this is the weekend to do it - for free!
