Petra Ecclestone, daugther of Formula 1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone and former Armani model Slavica, claimed her spot in the race for the most extravagant wedding of 2011.  Ecclestone's wedding this past weekend reportedly cost $5 million.  That means her wedding was the equivalent of Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton's weddings.

The nuptials took place in Rome at Castello Orsini-Odescalchi, the same castle Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise wed.  The 22-year old heiress wore a $130,000 custom made Vera Wang gown and showed up to wed her man, businessman James Stunt, in a white Rolls Royce.

In attendance, was of course, Paris Hilton and sister Nicky along with 350 guests total.  Another set of sisters who attended the wedding were Princesses Beatrice and Eugenia along with their mother Duchess Sarah Ferguson.  Eric Clapton performed along with the Black Eyed Peas.  And of course, how do you conclude an over the top wedding?  Fireworks and an acrobatics show of course -- that was the final performance of the night.

You might remember an earlier blog I did on Petra Ecclestone when she purchased the former Spelling mansion (TV-producer Aaron Spelling's home) in Los Angeles for $85 million -- a bargain considering it was listed for $150 million.  But don't worry, guests to her wedding were graciously asked to donate their monetary gifts to charity instead of giving them to the newlywed couple -- they aren't "spoiled, just privileged" as the new bride stated modestly.
