It's hard being a dog owner and finding a place for your furry friend to stretch their legs and have play dates especially if you live in a major city. Well there is good news if you live in downtown Albany. The Downtown Albany Business Development District is planning on opening a new dog park by early July. It will be located in Wallenberg Park in a rectangular area bordering North Pearl, Clinton Ave, Broadway, and the I-787 on ramp.

It's a 15,000 square foot dog park with a black metal fence to keep with the historic aesthetics of the downtown area. It will have all the amenities you need for your best friend and you including doggie water fountains, 4 benches, large rocks for your dog to play on and free WIFI thanks to the partnership with the Albany Public Library. Plus the normal amenities like dog waste bags and garbage bins.

There are also plans for social events at the dog park both for you and your dog. I am so happy for the residents of this area in downtown Albany. I live in Cohoes and am happy to report that a similar dog park is also in the works. I am jealous though that this dog park has an opening date, the Cohoes one is still in the developing stages.
