Dangerous “Knockout” Game Spreading in Schenectady
This is one of those trending things that I think of as too crazy to actually happen in real life until I saw a first-hand story of a Schenectady business owner getting punched randomly in the street near my house.
Things of My Very Own is a great business in Schenectady that "provides crisis intervention services to children impacted by extensive abuse and/or neglect," according to their website. The CEO & owner, E Rayn Boncie posted to Facebook a few days ago about an experience she had a few blocks from my house.
If you're unfamiliar with the game "Knockout" (and I use the phrase "game" extremely loosely), it's when you walk up to someone randomly on the street and punch them until you knock them out. Awful, right? Well, on Monday, Boncie was walking on Union Street in Schenectady near Union College when a random woman walked up to her and while Boncie was distracted, another woman came up to her and repeatedly punched her on the left side of her face and then the original woman joined in hitting her from behind.
With Boncie knocked unconscious, the two women got away. She filed a report with the Schenectady Police but hasn't heard about the women being caught yet. If this is something trending in Schenectady, chances are (if it's not already) it's not long before it starts trending throughout the Capital Region. Be warned and if you see this happening, call the police and do what you can to help!
