
City Plow Truck Combusts During Upstate New York Snow Storm

Less than one week after Albany County announced the new resident-chosen names for 7 of their new snow plows, the city lost one in a blaze of glory late Saturday night.
According to a social media post by the Albany Permanent Professional Firefighters Association Local 2007, DGS crews in Albany were out and about late Saturday evening when one of their plow trucks caught fire.
Plow Truck Goes Up in Flames
While it's unclear what caused the truck to go up in flames, crews extinguished the fire, and no one was hurt; however, they lost one of their trucks.
The incident happened in front of Hackett Middle School on Delaware Avenue in Albany, a high-traffic road that connects Albany to Delmar and Bethlehem.

According to sources, a ¾-ton (or Class 2b) models typically start around $40,000, while many one-ton (or Class 3) models start around $45,000. That is before you factor in the cost of upgrading the truck with additional snow plow truck equipment.
The total estimated cost for loss is generally around $60K to 80K if fully equipped.
