What's the BEST Public High School in the Capital Region?

When it comes to public high schools in the Capital Region, there's no shortage of great ones - and shout out to all of the teachers and educators who shape and mold our kids.

With that being said, bragging rights are on the line here, and there's a new number # 1 when it comes to the best public high schools in the Capital Region based upon data released by Niche.com, a company that runs a ranking and review site.

Here's how Niche.com ranked the Ten Best Public High Schools in the Capital Region for 2022:

#9 Voorheesville High School
#8 Columbia High School
#7 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake
#6 Saratoga High School
#5 Shen High School
#4 Guilderland High School
#3 Bethlehem High School
#2 Niskayuna High School
#1 Shaker High School

Congrats to Shaker for being named the # 1 Public High School in the area.  Niche gave high marks to the North Colonie School for its excellent teacher-studio ratio as well as student success.

According to Niche.com, "Shaker High School is a top-rated, public school located in Latham. It has 2,011 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 12 to 1. According to state test scores, 99% of students are at least proficient in math and 99% in reading."

This year's Top 10 is a bit of a departure from the same list that came out a year ago.

In last year's Niche report,  Bethlehem Central was No. 1 among area school districts in its annual best districts rating.
