Car Chase Closes Part Of I-90 In Albany
Traffic on I-90 in Albany was a little busier around noon on Friday, but it wasn’t because people were trying to go away on vacation for the Memorial Day weekend.
Te traffic jam happened because part of the highway was shut down for a period of time because of a car that had crashed into another vehicle after it was involved in a car chase.
The car chase began around Exit 5. According to New York State Police, the Community Narcotics Enforcement Team attempted to stop Cody W. Thomas from Schenectady. Thomas didn’t pull over, but instead sped up and drove away in the westbound lane of the busy highway in an attempt to avoid getting stopped. The chase was short lived when Thomas allegedly crashed his vehicle into another vehicle around Exit 3.
Thomas got out of his vehicle and took off on foot, running across the eastbound lanes of I-90. He ran into wooded area near the highway. Shortly after, authorities caught Thomas. Criminal charges are pending against Thomas.
In the story from News 10 ABC, The driver of the vehicle that was struck during the incident had some minor injuries, and was taken to Albany Medical Center.
