As most of us celebrate to get into the holiday spirit and try to brighten up our houses, apartments and workplaces with decorations, we want it to look nice, but we also want to be safe and without bad incidents.

For those of us who put up a Christmas tree, if it’s artificial, make sure it’s labeled, certified or identified by the manufacturer as fire-retardant.

If you choose a fresh (real) tree, besides making the house smell nice, make sure the green needles don’t fall off when you touch them. Cut off enough lower branches so the tree fits in the stand. This will insure enough room to safely put up the tree, and leave enough of the tree in the well of the stand to put water in. WATER DAILY!. This leads me to my next tip – WATER DAILY!. You don’t want your tree to get dried out, creating a fire hazard. Make sure the tree doesn’t block any heat source.

Always turn off those Christmas lights before leaving the house or going to bed.

These are just a few safety tips to keep your holiday safe. Keep watching. I’ll have more safety tips coming soon.
