When we look back on Memorial Day 2020, we'll probably spend as much time thinking about what we "could and couldn't do" as much as we did remembering the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.  With that being said, a much needed break from the pandemic (and some really good weather) will have many people in the Capital Region clamoring to get "in" and "on" the water, and some good news: Phase One of the reopening of upstate New York means that local marinas will be able to rent boats, pontoons, and waverunners Memorial Day weekend.

According to CBS 6 News, the owners of South Shore Marina in Malta are disinfecting the boats anticipating the traffic over the holiday weekend. Marina owners told CBS 6 news that while CDC guidelines will prevent them from filling up their larger boats to capacity,  they're happy to be putting people back in the water.  According to the report, South Shore Marina usually has their patio business booming on a holiday weekend but they'll only be doing take-out.

Chic's Marina on Bolton Landing is also excited for their Phase One opening posting on their Facebook page that they will be "accepting reservations for daily or multiple day boat rentals. We will be open from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm."  They also encouraged boaters to make reservations ASAP because they anticipate that they will "fill up fast!"

Enjoy the holiday weekend, take the time to recharge and be safe.
