Small Upstate NY City Named One Of The Best In America
For most of America, New York starts and stops at the boundaries of New York City. For those who think like that, you're missing out. New York state has a plethora of quaint and charming towns and cities scattered around upstate.
One, however, stands above the rest of one of America's best small cities.
Best Small City in New York
A recent survey by WalletHub attempted to find the best small cities in America with populations between 25,000 and 100,000. On this list, Saratoga Springs, NY ranked within the top 1% among small cities in America.
The city, just north of the state's Capital, scored at 69.49 on the study's metrics, making it the eighth highest in the nation. It ranked middle of the line on affordability, economic health, and safety, but was catapulted to the top by incredibly high education, health, and quality of life scores.

Other New York Cities on the List
Saratoga Springs was not the only city in New York State to be ranked in this list. Aside from Saratoga, 26 other cities, including Albany, Troy, Poughkeepsie, and New Rochelle were ranked in the top 50th percentile.
On the other hand, 17 cities in New York were ranked in the bottom 50th percentile, including Uniondale, Rome, Utica, Newburgh, and the state's lowest, Spring Valley. While these cities have a lot of catching up to do, the vast majority of cities on the higher end shows that there is so much more to do and love in New York outside of the Big Apple.
