Army Vet Offers Free Camp in Upstate NY for Wounded Warriors
As your summer is winding down, you may be looking for a last minute camping trip. If you're a veteran or wounded warrior, there's a campsite you may not have heard of but is free to your family.
Camp Serenity is owned by Wounded Warriors Outdoor Adventures President Robert J. Giordano who decided to turn his 68.8 acres in Pierrepont, New York into a veteran retreat, according to New York Upstate. Since he retired in 2008, "it has always been his dream to provide a rustic retreat for Wounded Warriors, veterans and their families."
This campsite has no affiliation with the national organization but is a place for veterans, wounded warriors, and their families to have a therapeutic release with the help of hiking, fishing, and trips to the woods.
The group behind Camp Serenity is 100% volunteer. Everything they provide is donated or through a fundraiser and everything earned is put right back into the organization. The cabins themselves were even build by volunteers!
