The votes are in and New York state-licensed vehicles will be sporting a new license plate in 2020. Here's how the voting broke down and the winning plate. According to News 10 ABC, as licensed drivers, we were asked to vote from five different designs for the new New York state license plates. The voting ran from August 19th through September 2nd.

The votes are in and here is how New Yorkers voted. License plate 1 was the Lady Liberty closeup on the left side got 16 percent of the votes. License plate 2 with Lady Liberty far away on the left side got 9.7 percent of the votes. License plate 3 the Mario Cuomo bridge plate also got 9.7 percent of the votes. License plate 4 with the torch in the middle received 14.9 percent of the votes.

The winning plate with 49.7 percent of total votes was plate 5 that featured Niagara Falls on the left side.

The new plates will be issued starting on April 1st, 2020. The replacement fee will be twenty-five dollars which will be added to the registration renewal. If you wish to keep your current license plate number, it will cost you an extra twenty dollars.
