All You Need to Know to Help Out Hurricane Sandy Victims
Two days after Hurricane Sandy ripped through the East Coast, many residents remain without basic supplies like food, clean water and shelter. Fortunately for the victims of this storm, there are many organizations out there determined to provide assistance to those affected by the hurricane.
These organizations could really use your help. The Red Cross is currently accepting donations to help provide food, shelter, emotional support and other assistance for those suffering under the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Donations can be made online at Redcross.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. You can give $10 by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999.
Blood supplies are low due to almost 100 Red Cross blood drives being cancelled due to the hurricane, making blood donations particularly valuable at this time. The Red Cross is asking people to schedule a time to give blood, especially in the New York/New Jersey areas. Donation can be set up by calling 1-800-933-2566 or by visiting the New York Blood Center.
The Salvation Army is working to feed people impacted by the storm. Donations can be made there by visiting here.
Feeding America says that it is working to distribute some thousands of pounds of emergency food to hurricane victims. To donate, you can call 1-800-910-5524 or visit them online here.
Medicine is also needed, and AmeriCares is working to provide what is needed by those impacted by the storms. Donate here.
World Vision is distributing flood cleanup kits and personal hygiene items. Donate to them here.
Save the Children is also out there trying to help relieve families affected by the hurricane. Donate here.
Of course, volunteers are always needed and Samaritan’s Purse needs them desperately. For information how to volunteer, click here.
