As the temperature drops, the rivalries in high school hoops heat up. Tuesday night was no different on basketball floors in the Capital Region. There were 29 boys games on the docket and another 22 for the girls. A big shout out to Tamarac boys basketball for their #1 ranking in Class B in New York State. Congrats to Coach Eric Medved and the Bengals!

Let's start with boys basketball and once again we had some road warriors that like the frigid temps outside. Coach Aric Kucel and his Shaker Bison went into Shen and shut down the Plainsmen 58-40. CBA continued their hot season going into Saratoga and coming away with a 53-48 victory. Albany had another big win 83-61 over Guilderland. Cohoes visited Mohonasen and left with a 75-57 triumph, while Cobleskill went to Lansingburgh for their 51-48 victory. Fonda traveled to Canajoharie and won 51-31, Fort Ann knocked off Salem on their home floor 47-36. Schuylerville nipped Broadalbin-Perth 35-32, in what must have been a defensive battle, while Granville dropped Taconic Hills 74-44.

Lots of home wins for boys basketball teams on Tuesday. Troy with a big home victory over Schenectady 78-77 in a thriller. Columbia knocked off Averill Park 47-38, as Scotia beat Amsterdam 76-59. Catholic Central shut down Voorheesville 73-44, as Icabod Crane beat Schalmont 63-46. LaSalle held down Ravena 58-37, as Colonie snuck by Burnt Hills 42-39. Lake George picked up their 11th win 55-32 over Hartford, while Maple Hill beat Coxsackie-Athlens 90-61. Fort Edward held down Corinth 72-49, as Glens Falls did the same to Queensbury 53-37. Hudson Falls got the victory over South Glens Falls 70-47 and Mechanicville beat Duanesburg 51-36.

How about some road warrior is girls high school basketball in Section 2? Suburban Council leader Shen knocked off Shaker 56-35, while red hot Duanesburg went to Catskill and beat the leader of the Patroon Council 67-51. Troy visited Schenectady and left with a 60-42 victory, as Hoosic Valley beat Stillwater 48-17 on their home floor. Catholic Central went to Voorheesville for their 52-43 win. Greenwich beat Cambridge 57-34 on their home floor. Corinth put 76 on Galway for a convincing win.

Plenty of home wins in girls hoops on Tuesday. In Bethlehem, Coach Kim Wise and the Eagles picked up their 8th win beating Niskayuna 52-44, as Mechanicville beat Emma Willard 62-55. Averill Park whacked Columbia 65-21, as Hoosick Falls dropped Waterford 73-40. Tamarac put 73 on Berlin-New Lebanon for the win, as Schalmont held off Icabod Crane 59-41. South Glens Falls defeated Hudson Falls 46-31.
