The state budget agreement has gone through for 2016-2017 and it's happening. Govenor Andrew M. Cuomo announced earlier this month the focal points of the budget agreement and it includes a direct connection from the Northway (I-87) to the Albany International Airport for, get this, $50 Million dollars! It ain't cheap!

The plans have been 50 years in the making, so ya know, $1M a year makes sense (does it?) The move is expected to help traffic flow for both locals and tourists alike, along with safety.

It'll obviously take some time to construct the new exit, which a time frame wasn't stated as to when this would occur. Also, in the meantime during construction I'm sure there will be some issues to come with rush hour and even outside of it, but think about the long run. That's where the positives lie...right?
