It's the first sign that winter will be here before you know it!

We still have plenty of great fall weather ahead of us, as well as pumpkin picking, foliage viewing, haunted drive-thrus and more. But that also means we will soon be seeing plenty of snow here in Upstate New York, and this past Friday we got a sign of what we will be seeing in the not too distant future.

Whiteface Mountain posted the video below to their Facebook page Friday of snow falling. Yes, not unheard of at all for the Adirondacks this time of year, but an indicator of what is looming in our near future!

So when can we expect those first snowflakes here in the Capital Region? Flurries can happen anytime now, especially with our colder nights. But our first measurable snow on average arrives in mid-November. Measurable too should not be a scary term, as it could pretty much amount to a dusting.

So, I think we can be pretty comfortable saying we have a good ways to go before we are shoveling the white stuff around and hitting the slopes for some winter fun. But love it or hate it, winter will be here soon and Old Man Winter is already making his presence known in Upstate New York.
