4 Cool Capital Region Baseball Road Trips For This Weekend
Memorial Day weekend and baseball is an American tradition. It is a time where family members get can together for an extra weekend day and enjoy a ballgame. We put together 4 cool baseball road trips that are about 2 hours or less away but unique enough that it is worth the ride, especially given the price of gas. The Tri City ValleyCats are on the road or that would have been #1!
Let's start Friday night with the Hudson Valley Renegades taking on the Rome Braves and there will be fireworks after the game. The Renegades are the New York Yankees High-A affiliate and feature some bright stars in the Pinstripes future. The same can be said for the Rome Braves. This will be their only trip this far north this summer and the Braves organization is always well-stocked with future All Stars. The Hudson Valley stadium is about 90 minutes from the Capital Region. Here is the address: Hudson Valley Renegades, 1500 NY-9D, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590
Here is something pretty cool for Saturday night, Diamond Dining. The Worcester Red Sox are on the road but you can enjoy dinner served in their Polar Park outfield. According to the WooSox press release "From lobster rolls, chicken caprese, and steak tips to hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken tenders, a menu of delicious ballpark fare at family-friendly prices will contribute to a warm and welcoming springtime atmosphere, filled with music and mascots." All of that will be served up to you on dinner tables set up in the outfield grass. It's cool because many people have never set foot on a professional stadium field. You get to enjoy dinner and take in the perspective of a professional outfielder. Click here for reservation information. Here is the address: Worcester Red Sox Baseball Club, 100 Madison St, Worcester, MA 01610
Sunday, you can head back to a stadium and check out the New York Mets AAA team, the Syracuse Mets, as they take on the Rochester Red Wings, affiliate of the Washington Nationals. NBT Bank Stadium is about 2:15 minutes from Albany. Game time is 6:35pm and there are fireworks after the game. As of Friday, you can pay $18 and sit directly behind home plate a few rows from the field. These players are one step from being in MLB. Here is the address: Syracuse Mets, 1 Tex Simone Dr, Syracuse, NY 13208
We have a great way to finish up the Holiday Baseball Weekend! How about a little Subway Series preview on Monday, Yankees vs. Mets? Well, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, I truly do not like the name but that is beside the point, are hosting the Somerset Patriots for a 4:05pm, Memorial Day game. The Ponies are the Mets AA affiliate and the Patriots are the Yankees AA team. Great talents on both sides and the 4:05 game makes the 2-hour trip from the Capital Region a bit easier. Click here for tickets. The address is:Binghamton Rumble Ponies Baseball Club, 211 Henry St, Binghamton, NY 13901. Hope you all enjoy a Happy and Safe Memorial Day weekend!
