Almost famously, as portrayed in the movies, working conditions for minor league baseball players has been an issue for decades. Travel, living accommodations, food and pay have all been subjects of protest at one time or another. Recently, Major League Baseball, backed by its billionaire owners, acquiesced to some salary and living condition demands by minor league players. Now it seems those players are may get some help from their big brothers.

Memorial Day weekend and baseball is an American tradition. It is a time where family members get can together for an extra weekend day and enjoy a ballgame. We put together 4 cool baseball road trips that are about 2 hours or less away but unique enough that it is worth the ride, especially given the price of gas. The Tri City ValleyCats are on the road or that would have been #1!

Some people take advantage opportunities. Some throw them away. Short-sighted players in minor league baseball are certainly in the minority. 99.5% of the baseball prospects on minor league rosters have hopes and dreams of getting to the big leagues.

Some athletes are like fine wines or bourbons, depending on your preference. They take time to develop. Minor league baseball is stocked with players that organizations hope will develop like a fine cabernet or single malt bourbon. Ballclubs begin touting some of these young players on they day they sign their contract. However, most of them are never mentioned.
