Back in September, the top twelve finalists were nominated for the Stong Museum Toy Hall of Fame. There were board games, dolls, action figures, digital pets, and even chalk that made the list this year. Now the winners have been announced and I have to say, in my opinion, they weren't all the best ones. According to WKBW.com, the 2020 Toy Hall of Fame has been picked. The original twelve nominees were Bingo, Breyer Horses, Jenga, Baby Nancy, Masters of the Universe, My Little Pony, Risk, Sorry, Tamagotchi, sidewalk chalk, and Yahtzee. The Strong Museum of Play in Rochester announced the winners.

I really thought the My Little Pony and some of the Masters of the Universe action figures would have made it, but the winners are Baby Nancy, Jenga, and sidewalk chalk. I realize that sidewalk chalk made a resurgence during the pandemic, but I would have never classified it as a toy. But what do I know?

The museum explained that the sidewalk chalk gave children a unique way to express themselves with clever drawings and doodles and creating their own masterpieces.

I do understand how iconic Baby Nancy was for its time, released in 1968, and according to the Strong Museum:

"The popularity of Baby Nancy exposed a long-standing demand for ethnically correct Black dolls that the mainstream market had failed to deliver previously."

I was really disappointed that one of mine and my sisters' favorite toys didn't make it in. Lite Brite was a staple in our house. We always had fun with that game. Hopefully, there will be a chance for it to run again next year.
