This is your chance to get away for a day and do some serious social distancing.

What is there not to love about a day of fishing? The great outdoors, the peace and quiet, the thrill of a bite on your line - there is so much to love. Not to mention, the social distancing aspect which is of the utmost importance these days. Throw in a day of license free fishing, and you have the perfect recipe for a great fishing jaunt.

According to a CBS 6 report, the state of Vermont has announced Saturday, June 13th will be a free fishing day. This means you can grab your gear and head across the border to the Vermont body of water of your choosing and fish without a license. June 13th also coincides with the start of bass fishing season in Vermont.

The free fishing concept is a great benefit to the avid fisherman, or the beginner. If you know your way around a tackle box, these free fishing days are a great way to try out some new lakes streams and maybe find that great new secret fishing spot. If you are a beginner, it is a chance to try the sport out to see if you like it without committing to buying a license.

Let's face it too: you have probably been stuck in New York for a while staying home. Maybe this is that great excuse you need to get out of the state for a day!
