New York State Police are looking for help finding a Rensselaer County sex offender. Shawn Guilbault of Troy is 26 years old. He apparently did not show up for his court date related to a September 2021 vehicle theft in Schaghticoke.
Guilbault is accused of stealing a vehicle from a driveway after finding the keys inside. He is facing two charges of Grand Larceny in the 4th degree as well as 3rd degree Identity Theft. In 2014 Guilbault was 2nd degree sexual abuse for sexual contact with a person less than 14 years old. The registry reports his victim was 12 at the time of the abuse. Guilbault was sentenced to six years probation in that case.
The Troy Record also has Guilbault listed in their police blotter from several years back. On June 11, 2014 he was charged with petit larceny in Cohoes.
