I'm sure there are a lot of people that own businesses or work in the area are happy about this change.
It was originally supposed to be on Thursday, but it's been moved to Saturday, August 23. In the story from CBS 6 Albany, Columbia Development Companies decided to change the date.

If you are one of the thousands of people that work in downtown Albany, you may want to take a vacation day or call in sick on Thursday, August 21. An implosion of the former Wellington Hotel Annex and the adjacent parking garage on Howard Street near Eagle Street, is scheduled to take place. Several parking restrictions and road closures will create some inconveniences and headaches for people and businesses in the area of the Times Union Center and surrounding neighborhoods.
The demolition of the structures is to help clear the area for construction of the new convention center.
News 10 ABC has a list of road closures and parking restrictions, courtesy of the Albany Police Department, that will be in effect for a good portion of the day on Thursday.
