First, it was a woman that allegedly jumped into the Mohawk River in Amsterdam, and now there's been another incident.

Earlier this afternoon, Amsterdam Police got a call about a male that was struggling while he was swimming in the Mohawk River. I actually heard about this from some of our WGNA listeners on our Face Book page.

I looked into it a little bit further and saw it in a story that I saw on CBS 6. 19-year-old Eduardo Figueroa was swimming on the east side of Lock 11 in Amsterdambut he began to become tired as he was trying to swim to Bronson Island, across the channel. That's when he went under the water, and never resurfaced.

Police attempted a search, but was called off after efforts were stopped because of heavy rains, winds and lightning from passing storms. They will continue their recovery effort on Wednesday morning.
