Tragic Rensselaer House Fire Claims 3 Lives Including Child
It's a families worst nightmare; waking up in the middle of the night inhaling smoke and feeling the heat of fumes while attemting to locate children. Firefighters worked frantically to rescue those trapped and did just so, while others didn't make it out alive. A tragic overnight fire at 900 Mann Avenue in Rensselaer became the scene of such a horrific incident claiming the lives of at least three, including one child.
According to reports from CNYCenral.com, when crews arrived around 4:42 am Sunday morning, they said the single family home was fully involved and people were still trapped inside and located during rescue efforts.
Five people were transported to local hospitals, including two other children, officials said. One was taken to Albany Medical Center without life-threatening injures. The other was flown to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse and is in critical condition. Officials say the ages of the three children range from elementary to high school.
