This Dog Food is Facing Recall in New York
Are you a dog owner in the Capital Region? If so you might want to see if you use this brand of dog food.
According to News 10 ABC, the Evanger’s Dog and Cat Food company has recalled several products. Specifically, some cans of the "Hunk of Beef" Brand. In certain cans, traces of phenobarbital have been found.
From Drugs.com, Phenobarbital is used to treat sleeplessness, anxiety and tension.
The FDA states that if dogs ingests these barbiturates they can experience dizziness, nausea and even death.
New York is one of the few states that could have food that has phenobarbital.
To help determine if you have a can of tainted food, the expiration date reads "June 2020" and has a bar code that ends in "20109".
