What are the chances we get have a White Christmas in the Capital Region this year?

It's a discussion we have every year in the weeks leading up to Christmas: will there be snow on the ground to make the holiday just a a little more festive? Here in Albany, the odds are actually pretty good every year that Santa will have some snow to land is sleigh on.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), our weather past suggests we have about a 60% chance of having at least 1 inch of snow on the ground on December 25.

These odds, coupled with a big cold spell coming later this week with an Arctic chill that is being forecasted to hang around through the first days of Winter, we may be in a great position to have some snow on the ground for Christmas! If we get some snow, it will be the one snowstorm you won't mind getting this year!
