Don't get caught by surprise when trying to fly, the process isn't that difficult to update your identification.

The New York Department of Motor Vehicles has made it easier for New York residents to obtain their "REAL ID" before the deadline, and this is how they did it.

Here we go again.

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles is warning all who wish to fly next year to get their REAL IDs. The new forms of identification will be needed by next year at this time in all the United States airports to board an airplane as per the federal government. A regular license or non-driver ID will not be accepted if you wish to fly within the United States starting May 3, 2023

The Department of Motor Vehicles is reminding New York residents that they will need to upgrade their licenses and identification if they want to continue to fly or enter federal buildings.

When you travel, you usually show up to TSA with a ticket and your driver's license to get on a plane, but soon that's not going to be enough.
