It was an intense fight between Schodack and Fort Anne for the ultimate prize - a theme song custom written for their town by "Rhymin' Richie" of the Sean and Richie Show (boy, that's quite a build-up. I hope Richie can deliver). And the winner is? Drumroll...
Sorry, polls are closed. The results are in. Guilderland handily beat Granville to get their own theme song for the next installment of Your Town Thursday . That's step one - now I need your help giving me some interesting factoids.
That's right, folks. It's an all points bulletin. Shout it from the rooftops. "Richie needs facts about Mayfield so he can write you a song for the next "Your Town Thursday" segment.
Today kicks off another edition of "Your Town Thursday", and I'm putting out the call early to get some information for next week. This is actually the second time I've written something for this wonderful Capital Region city. The first time created a little bit of controversy.
I had quite the experience today . I might be smiling about this one for the next week! I spent the better part of the day in a town that was vaguely reminiscent of my hometown - Salem, NY! I actually had two very good reasons to go there!
You heard me. They're TOTALLY awesome, and they're going to get a theme song, darn it, and a good one too! They are now part of a new club here at the radio ranch. They are going to have their town immortalized in song (for better or for worse) for Your Town Thursday !
I loved the participation from all the folks in Waterford. It made writing even MORE fun than normal, and I appreciate it. I even had a Facebook friend suggest the song to parody, and it turned out to be a great idea, even if it was a song from 1905!
It took a little bit of coaxing to get the information, but we now have closure. Grafton, NY has now been added to the growing list of songs for YOUR TOWN THURSDAY!
Let this be a warning to all commuters, visitors, and residents of our beautiful city. For the next month, they aren't messing around. You better keep the noise to a bare minimum! I have a way of remembering the rules for those of you who are worried...
