The New York Yankees, the most storied franchise in Major League Baseball, quietly made history again. This weekend, the Yankees announced their organizational charts for their coaching staff. For the first time in major league or minor league history for any team, a woman will be the Tampa Tarpons manager in 2022.

ESPN caught lightning in a bottle with their creation of the "Manningcast" broadcast during the NFL season, and have created a new show that has Yankees fans buzzing.

The American League Cy Young Award winner was announced on Wednesday night and the winner was not a member of the New York Yankees. Toronto left-hander pitcher, Robbie Ray snagged the 2021 award given to the best pitcher of the year in their respected leagues, as voted on by the Baseball Writers Association of America. But was that the right choice? The pitcher with the most wins in the American League wore pinstripes?

Any baseball expert in the world would qualify 5 scoreless, and hitless, World Series innings as a major contribution to a team's championship. However, the Capital Region doesn't need any experts to tell them how special Ian Anderson is and neither do the Braves. Now, the player who grew up in Rexford and pitched for the Shenendehowa High School Plainsmen gets to flash some pretty incredible bling around town.

Going to a Major League Ballpark, enjoying a cold beer and a hot dog, is a tradition that has been passed down through generations in the United States. When I went to my first New York Mets game, the only beer available in Shea Stadium was a Rheingold. As my dad used to tell me, "they owned the taps." Schaefer had the same thing going on at Yankee Stadium. That was the 1970's.
