Fans of arena football in the Capital Region are getting some good news: Football is coming back to Albany.  And the National Arena League is getting even better news, you're coming to Albany.  As lucky as we are to have the announcement of area football back in our area, this league is even luckier to have us; the best fans in the history of arena football.

Ever since the Arena Football League folded due to a lawsuit against the league's former leadership, we here in the Capital Region have been holding out hope indoor football would return. News broke earlier today that Arena Football could be far closer to returning than any of us thought. Spectrum News Albany's Jaclyn Cango Tweeted out that the owners of the Orlando Predators of the National Arena League are interested in bringing a team to the Times Union Center.

The pandemic has been going on for some time but we have just heard word of the first death that this virus has brought to the Capital Region.

We are all saddened by the news that our beloved Albany Empire are no more. But no one is more devastated in our eight-year-old son, Ryan. It was heartwrenching when I told him the news.

After a disappointing end to their inaugural season last year, The Albany Empire have some unfinished business to take care of this off-season.  As they look to bolster their roster with some fresh talent, the player who may take them to the next level next year might be you or someone you know.  Bust out the cleats, start doing some drills on improving your 40 yard dash and get ready. I love Albany.  It's where I was born.  It's where I have lived pretty much all my life,  including now.  But I have to admit it felt like Albany was sagging - losing to all of the major cities that comprise the Capital Region - and it was getting a little depressing...

It started off as a typical GNA Morning Show interview when members of the Albany Empire came on the show with Chrissy, Jess, and me Thursday morning. Team VP of Business Operations George Manias came in and pumped up the game but it was Albany kicker Kenny Spencer who made the kind of bold prediction that booted away any thought of the visitors winning on Saturday. The Albany Empire start the season one week from Saturday, but it wasn't until I saw this picture the team tweeted out recently that I really got jacked up for the season.  I can hear the roar of the crowd, the sound of pads colliding...now it feels real!
