On Friday afternoon, hazardous materials crews were called to a home in Delmar after a family discovered a disturbing find while they were cleaning out the basement.

Authorities blocked off streets and secured the area around 18 Paxwood Road when a small, strangely labeled vial that was wrapped in a towel and stuffed in an envelope was found during the basement clean up. New York State Police removed the vial from the home.

This was the second time that authorities were called to the residence for possible hazardous materials. A doctor that did work that included working closely with infectious diseases, lived in the home. He passed away earlier this month. While the family was cleaning out another part of the house on August 8, authorities were called to the home because they found chemical materials. Those materials were non-hazardous after inspection by the Department Of Health.
