You know how when you go to someone else's Facebook page it shows you how many of your friends are also their friends.  Same thing goes for "Fan Pages", it will say 148 of your friends also like "cheddar cheese", or  whatever.  Well for some reason I decided to do that with a few Country Stars and see who were the most popular with my Facebook friends. (I have 1746 at the moment)

Now keep in mind there are a lot of factors that go into something like this. Maybe a particular person has not had their fan page up for as long as others.  Maybe people who are more apt to be my friends are more likely to like what I like.  But still, going to someone's fan page and clicking like actually requires active intent by the fan so that says something for sure about their followings. Either way , there were some interesting results.

I'll start with those who got 1- 50 shared "likes".

  • Ashton Sheppard    7
  • Jimmy Wayne           10
  • Lee Brice         17
  • Randy Houser      21
  • Joe Nichols         24
  • Thompson Square     27
  • Easton Corbin   34
  • Little Big Town   36
  • Sara Evans   38
  • Chuck wicks    39
  • Chris Young    39
  • Montgomery Gentry      40
  • Phil Vassar    40
  • Gretchen Wilson    42
  • Martina McBride    45
  • Jamey Johnson     47
  • Faith Hill      48
  • Jimmy Buffet      48
  • Billy Currington     48
  • Jason Michael Carrol    49

Are there any there that you are surprised to see?  Martina?  Buffet? Faith? Even though they are in the upper part of that bracket with the likes of Jamey Johnson and Billy Currington who are quite popular current artists, have their stars diminished that much?  Makes you wonder how fleeting this fame thing can be.  Now those are all good and popular artists and quite honestly take up the largest part of the list. So we move on to a higher echelon of mutual "likes" now 51 - 100.

  • Steve Azar    56
  • The Band Perry   57
  • Dierks Bentley   58
  • Josh Turner    62

All of these good acts.  I think with Steve he is a great friend to me and WGNA.  And very fan friendly, he probably shook hands with half the people on the list.  And Dierks and Josh are about where I'd expect.  The nice surprise there is The Band Perry.  That is a very strong showing for such a new band.  Now lets look at 101 - 200.

  • Darius Rucker    114
  • Kid Rock      132
  • Blake Shelton      164
  • Luke Bryan       174
  • Miranda Lambert     197

Clearly now we are in the realm of people who can fill an arena with ticket sales.  All of them I think are excellent artists with huge followings and lots of hits. Two things stand out to me here, Miranda beat her soon to be husband and Luke Bryan?  Be Honest, did you see him in this company?  OK now we get to the biggies, these folks can at least think hard about headlining stadium tours. Lets look at 201- 300.

  • Keith Urban     246
  • Taylor Swift    264
  • Brad Paisley    271
  • Rascal Flatts    300
  • All makes sense to me , no huge surprises there, How about the Elite?   These people are 301-400.
  • Reba      313
  • Carrie Underwood      313
  • Tim McGraw    343
  • Sugarland    345
  • Jason Aldean    364
  • Kenny Chesney     375
  • Zac Brown Band    377

Three Cheers for my current favorite band by far, Zac Brown.  There is and has been no doubt in my mind that these guys are the real deal and will be for a very long time.  But wow, did you see the glaring name in that list?  Who would have thought that Jason Aldean was in that group?  I will admit, I like him but I did not see that one coming at all.  I think it may be the shock of the poll.  OK  only one  act ranked higher than 400.  Can you guess who it is?

Let me hear your guesses.

God Bless.
