What's not to appreciate and respect about former Shen star - and current rising NBA star - Kevin "Red Velvet" Heurter?

Heurter, Clifton Park, is the starting guard for the red-hot Atlanta Hawks - a team trending sky-high that may be a year or two away from quite possibly competing for an NBA title.

All this young man does is hustle, play smart, play hard, shoot the lights out, and win.  He's simply a damn good player who competes nighly with the world's best athletes.

Oh yeah, and he's always looking for ways to give back to the Clifton Park and the 518 community that has had his back since day 1.  On Wednesday, the silky shooter they call "Red Velvet" announced that he'll be back in his hometown for one day, hosting a free basketball clinic over Labor Day Weekend.

The event called "Kevin Heurter's 518 Hoopfest" will be taking place on Saturday, September 4th at the basketball courts inside Clifton Commons from 9AM-12PM.  Registration begins on August 29th.

This is what Heurter posted to his Twitter on Wednesday:

"Saturday, September 4th I will be hosting a 1 day event in Clifton Park, all of the 518 is welcome, admission and sign up is FREE. More details to follow on where and how to register. (There will be) Competitions Giveaways Autograph Signing" Kevin Heuter Twitter

Back in June, Heurter put the NBA on notice when he flat out dominated  game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference semi-finals.  The 2016 Shen grad came through with the best game of his life, putting on an absolute clinic of epic proportions.  He exploded for 27 points and 7 rebounds as the Atlanta Hawks beat the Philadelphia 76ers 103-96.
