Sean McMaster Announces He Will NOT Seek Election For New York Senator – “Jim Tedisco Has MY Vote”
I am, and have always been a fan of Senator Hugh Farley. When he announced that he will not be seeking re-election this year in New York's 49th Senate District I was saddened to say the least. After 40 years of distinguished service however you can't blame the man for wanting to retire and spend some quality time with his family.
As a Senator Hugh Farley was smart, accessible, caring, hard working and fair. The problem I saw was, who would be able to fill his shoes in the New York State Senate? I thought, "Hey I am all of those things, maybe not to the extent that Senator Farley was but I care about our region and this State as well. Maybe I should run for the Senate to ensure that someone who truly cared and wanted to serve would take that vacant seat.
Fortunately, for all of us someone MUCH BETTER came along. Assemblyman Jim Tedisco has announced that he will indeed be seeking election to the soon to be vacated Senate seat this fall. Whew.
On his Facebook Page Jim said, "I'm honored to announce my candidacy to be the next State Senator for the 49th Senate District. I want to again thank Senator Hugh Farley for his distinguished career in public service and for everything he has done to make the Capital Region and Upstate a better place. I am honored to have his strong support and was joined today by his son, Bob. I might be expanding the district I represent but I won’t be changing who I am and the important advocacy I do fighting for my constituents and Upstate taxpayers. I’m still going to be the same Jim Tedisco -- as independent and outspoken as ever in standing up and telling it like it is when it comes to reforming Albany and improving the quality of life for New Yorkers."
Well there you have it. Jim has my vote and you are stuck with me on WGNA for the time being.
