I love to do spring cleaning and get rid of clutter, but I sometimes feel guilty for throwing things away!  I love to donate things, but at a certain point you have to admit that no one wants your crappy running shoes, or your bra with the wire poking out, or the panty hose from the Holiday party with the giant hole in the knee... so what's a girl to do?

Well, here are four things you probably didn't know you can recycle . . .

1.  Sneakers

Nike has a program called Reuse-A-Shoe that grinds them up and uses the material for other stuff, like artificial turf.  Their website shows you the closest place to drop them off.  It's a great way to get rid of your old shoes that no one will ever wear again!

2.  Brita water filters

A company called Preserve melts down the plastic, and uses it to make stuff like toothbrushes, plastic cups, and cutting boards!  Brilliant!

3.  Bras

The website BraRecycling.com has about 50 drop-off locations or you can mail them in!  Oh, and FYI, No Nonsense  does the same thing with pantyhose!

4.  Light bulbs

You're not supposed to throw away the new compact fluorescent kind, (and, is it just me, or do they go out a lot more than the old ones?!) because they have mercury in them.  So a lot of recycling centers accept them now, and so does Home Depot!  I'm sure there is one near you!

Earth911 has a lot more recycling ideas for your spring cleaning pleasure!

Happy De-cluttering!
