Rensselaer County Police Look for Masked Man After Rash of Break-Ins
East Greenbush Police are asking for the public's help
Police in Rensselaer County are asking for the public's help identifying a masked man photographed by a resident Ring cam and made public on Wednesday afternoon. Following a string of daytime burglaries police have released his photo as well as a possible getaway car(s).
Here's what the police say happened
In a Facebook post put out late Wednesday afternoon, The East Greenbush Police Department warned Capital Region residents about a man they've linked to a string of robberies this week. They believe the burglars were pretending to be looking for a lost dog which may have been how the robbers were able to stake out certain homes to victimize.
According to the police, these are the 3 areas throughout East Greenbush where homes were robbed:
- Valley View Avenue in East Greenbush
- Mcdonald Lane off Stock Lane
- Budd Lane off Luther Road
Be on the lookout for their "lost dog scam"
According to the police, during the Valley View robbery, "an unknown male made entry into an occupied residence through a window. When confronted by the homeowner the male fled." While they attempt to find the man, they've asked people with homes on McDonald Lane and Budd Lane to check their security cameras as well to see if other photos of the person exist.
