Carve or paint pumpkins?  What’s your Halloween tradition?

It’s that time of year – PUMPKIN time!!!  Every year when I drive down Rt. 146 in Clifton Park, I see the pumpkin patch that pops up at the Church in front of the Shen schools and I think – Andrea’s already been here!  So, it was no surprise to me when I came home from work and the kids – yes, all the neighborhood kids- were all gathered around the pumpkins.

We had a massive pumpkin painting party.  It was a nice day, so we set everyone up outside with a painting station and let them go to work.  Eve, my friend’s daughter is an amazing artist, so I helped her with her Eagles/Vikings creation.  Yes, that is freehand!

Now, over the years we have carved the pumpkins.  We use the traditional store bought carving kit and pick out a design we can copy to make us look like professional pumpkin carvers.  I’ve noticed though, with the introduction of Pinterest into our lives (Andrea is obsessed) we have started painting pumpkins.

So, as it turns out, our pumpkin tradition is painting – what is yours?
